Personal Training

There's no single right way to deliver your personal fitness.  There are tried and tested principles that the professional fitness expert adhers to:

Initial consultation and taster session - there's no charge for this because it's the perfect way to see that we can work together effectively.  You'll tell us about your current and recent health and fitness, your exercise likes and dislikes, and most importantly what you want to achieve from the sessions.
Fitness Assessment - before you start an exercise programme your current level of fitness is measured.  You get a benchmark so you can see improvement from future sessions.  There's a variety of techniques; some are essential such as your blood pressure, weight, height and heart rate; some are optional.  You might be a bit nervous about more precise body fat measurements.
Exercise programme design - a personalised long-term programme is designed, broken down into weekly and daily session plans.  No plan is perfect, so it's constantly monitored and refined.  Motivation and fun is a key part of the Personal Trainer's role, and the exercise plan will involve a variety of exercises and equipment, and will change regularly.
Fitness reviews - the fitness assessment is re-performed over the period of your fitness plan to make sure your likely to achieve those goals and to enable the exercise plans to be modified if necessary.

A typical exercise session might consist of:

  • thorough warm-up and stretching - so your body's ready for the main session
  • challenging resistance work-out - using resisitance bands, weights, your own bodyweight etc
  • core stability exercises - strengthen the muscles in your back and stomache, not only to help achieve your goals but also to help with your day-to-day activities and posture
  • cardiovascular exercises - for all round health benefits
  • gentle cool down and assisted stretching  - to bring your body back to resting state and help to reduce post exercise discomfort
