Sports Massage Therapy

Sports Massage Therapy has been practised around the world for centuries. Whilst the title indicates its use in a sporting context, anyone suffering from a physically limiting condition will often benefit from a sports massage.  Our clients have included office workers with back pains and tension.  Take these three examples of those who might benefit:
1. A professional distance runner with acute pain in the upper leg which prevents him from competing or doing strength training
2. A freight delivery driver with a sprained ankle that prevents him from working
3. A mother of three children who works in a local office.  She suffers from back pains which makes it very uncomfortable to pick up the children and sit at her desk at the office 

So what typically happens at the initial sports injury session?

  • We gather all the relevant information about you - what's the problem, how and when did it arise, your medical background
  • We perform an objective assessment - observe your body asymmetry, your range of joint movement, palpate your muscles and boney prominences for any tenderness, and put you through some special tests  
  • We draw our conclusions based on the information gathered
  • We design a treatment plan and post care advise
  • We perform an initial treatment
And thereafter we continue the treatment, reviewing progress and updating the plan as necessary
